Martin Riseley

Having honed his craft at the renowned Juilliard School under the guidance of Dorothy DeLay, Martin Riseley's musical journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. With Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts Degrees under his belt, he went on to serve as Concertmaster of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra for an illustrious fifteen years. During this time, he showcased his brilliance by performing and premiering numerous concertos. Riseley's exceptional talent has led him to collaborate with some of the most esteemed musicians of our era, including luminaries like Pinchas Zukerman, Yo-Yo Ma, and John Kimura Parker. Notably, he has held prestigious concertmaster positions, including the role of Interim Associate Concertmaster of the National Arts Center Orchestra under the baton of maestro Pinchas Zukerman. Returning to his homeland of New Zealand as Head of Strings at the New Zealand School of Music, Riseley continues to dazzle audiences with his artistry. He has premiered John Corigliano's mesmerising "Red Violin Chaconne," graced stages across the country with spellbinding performances of the complete Paganini caprices, and joined forces with the remarkable pianist Diedre Irons for captivating recitals, including those presented by Chamber Music New Zealand. Additionally, he is an esteemed member of Te Koki Trio, collaborating with Jian Liu and Inbal Megiddo.
